The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date is an iconic model, launched in 1938 to meet the needs of pilots of the time. Its main feature is its "Big Crown", designed to be easily operated with the thick gloves of aviators in flight. In addition to this enlarged crown, Oris added a pointer date function, which has become a distinctive feature of the watch's design.
This one is the reference 7463B (dating from the 80s). It has a nice diameter of 36mm that will suit all wrists. It is powered by the caliber 634 from Oris and offers 38 hours of power reserve. In very good condition, it even comes with its original "rice grain" type steel bracelet.
The Big Crown draws inspiration from 1930s pilot watches, but it also played a pivotal role in the 1980s, when Oris, faced with the quartz crisis, produced only this mechanical model. This modernized version retains several distinctive elements of the early pilot watches, such as the notched-edged bezel and tapered lugs, while adopting a more streamlined, contemporary dial.
This watch comes without box and papers.
